For years you have labored with the local group.  Friends and family have loved you and came by the droves to hear you sing that one favorite song.  Yet, you always dreamed of being a "star" on the stage and hearing the crowd go wild when you start a particular song, or maybe go up and hit the high note on the tag.

Tonight however, you get off that big new bus parked out back of the auditorium, got a new ring on your finger, some fancy duds that you happened to pick up while you had a day off in a city few of your friends could only dream of.  You've made it to the big time my friend!

Friends from back home have driven miles to come see you that evening.  The group you used to sing with,... "maybe hoping you will mention their name on the stage" are there as well. But, you stay backstage with your band, other singers, it's part of the "job".   Used to be that you would raise your hands in praise and not be afraid of letting a tear roll down your check when you sang, but now, it's not professional.

All too often this has been the case of many "big" stars in most any genre of music, but Southern Gospel has had it's share of "untouchable" stars in the past.  But when you let this happen, trust me, the star will fade, the industry friends will be constantly changing and soon non existant.  And when you go home, your friendships there are nothing more than an aquaintance. 

FANS ARE IMPORTANT to any singer.  Gospel, country, pop, rock... but,.. the most important is the meaning of what you are singing.  Examine your motives for the stage.. examine your reason behind singing a particular song... get real with it.

Hello everybody!

God has been so good! I’m sorry I haven’t been able to write for the last few days. The reason why is because we have been going non-stop and have had the opportunity to minister in so many different places and ways. I just want to mention a few of the experiences we have had and I want to try and describe to you all how beautiful the Filipino people are.

Our team has traveled to city churches, country churches, a high school, and an orphanage. One of our crowds was 800 strong. On some nights, the team prays for every single person in the church.  Our team has been amazing. Rodney and Kathy Moore have introduced us to their friends and shared their passion for the Lord and the Philippines with us. Meredith, their daughter, has blessed us and the Filipino people by her worship of God through dancing. Jerry & Linda Barnes carried two boxes of clothes across 9,000 miles for the precious orphans we met last night. I will never forget their faces as they watched the boxes being opened. It was like Christmas! We have spent time in the homes of missionaries who blessed us with their time, help, and stories (and who I hope to tell you more about later). We have eaten delicious Filipino food!

For all the New Life Baptist folks: Pastor Jones has been awesome. He has preached up to three sermons a day. Pastor Jones is a true man of God. He has fit into this environment flawlessly and is reaching out to everyone we meet with the love of Jesus.

Most of all, I have been touched by the Filipino people. They are unlike any people I have ever met. They can sing! They can dance! They are a very friendly warm people in general, so when you add the joy of the Lord Jesus Christ, you get some of the sweetest most worshipful people on the planet.

To the churches that have sent us here: Thank You! Our mission is only half over, and we feel that if we were to quit and go home today, this trip would still be a success. We are looking forward to seeing what else God will do! We cannot wait to get home and tell you all about it.

Keep us in your prayers as we travel to General Santos City where we will be involved in many meetings and services and ministry opportunities. We love and miss you all so much!
